A day in the life of a care worker

A day in the life of a care worker is nothing ordinary nor is it typical. The Covid-19 pandemic has placed additional stress on an already very demanding, but incredibly rewarding and worthwhile role.

It isn’t every day people receive thanks for the things they do, and in truth a care worker comes to work for the love of what they do, not for the thanks they might receive.

However after a very long shift, or a tiring week, a letter, a note, or email with a few kind words can lift the spirits and lift the day, which is why when Edendale Lodge manager and staff received a note to thank them for their care and kindness it put a spring in the steps of everyone there.

Theresa Toal, Registered Manager at Edendale Lodge care home says: “We don’t expect thanks for what we do, it’s our passion and vocation to care. However it’s really nice to receive kind messages. To know we have had a positive impact on not just the individuals we are caring for but their families too is just the biggest compliment we could ever receive.”

Belmont Healthcare offers multiple forms of long, short, respite or day care for those in need, specialising in care of older person who lives with Dementia, and other life changing conditions such as Parkinson’s disease. Our homes are situated in delightful settings around the UK.
