Encouraging wildlife to visit and stay in crowhurst

Residents and staff at Edendale Lodge care home are hoping to invite more wildlife in to their garden and village of Crowhurst by making a home for some prickly friends.

The newly purchased Hedgehog home has been delivered just in time to encourage a family of Hedgehogs to make it their ideal winter hibernation spot, and hopefully encourage them to stay permanently.

Theresa  Toal, registered manager at Edendale Lodge says: “Unfortunately Hedgehogs are a dwindling native mammal of the UK. We wanted to change that by providing a safe haven of shelter and rich source of natural food in our beautifully positioned country garden.

“Hopefully a Hedgehog family will move in and make Edendale Lodge their home, which would provide us with much joy and relief that the slug population would no longer be in charge!.”

Belmont Healthcare offers multiple forms of long, short, respite or day care for those in need, specialising in care of older person who lives with Dementia, and other life changing conditions such as Parkinson’s disease. Our homes are situated in delightful settings around the UK.
