Haslington lodge explores a far away culture

Namaste from residents and staff at Haslington Lodge Care Home started a day of exploration as they immersed themselves in Indian culture.

One of the oldest cultures in the world captured the imagination of the home’s Activities Coordinator, Tracey Crittenden, who made sure the day was as authentically Indian as it could be.

Female members of staff were treated to wearing a special item of clothing, the sari. The fashionable yet traditional dress was certainly a colourful departure from the care team's daily uniform.

The exploration of Indian culture would not have been complete without sampling the most anticipated part, the food. Authentic and spicy, residents and staff were thankful for the taste explosion provided from the curry and side dishes lovingly prepared in the home kitchen.

Sally Ann Briggs, Care Home Manager at Haslington Lodge Care Home says: “What a lot of fun this cultural adventure was. From exploring the traditional dress to sampling the food, it was certainly a day everyone enjoyed, and we’re all looking forward to doing again.”
