Ladies who knit bring comfort to sandbanks care home

A group of knitting enthusiasts, called the Ladies who Knit, have donated dozens of handmade twiddle blankets for the residents at Sandbanks Lodge Care Home.

The handmade blankets feature a vast array of colours and styles, from colourful crochet, to pastel knits. The twiddle blankets benefit from various sewn on accessories, such as ribbon, buttons and tassels designed to provide tactile stimulus for those who handle them.

Liz Tart at Sandbanks Lodge Care Home says: “Thank you to Dee from the Ladies who Knit for the very generous and thoughtful donation. Twiddle blankets provide a lot of sensory comfort to some of the people we care for, particularly those who have dementia. Already we can see they are very popular, which is no surprise given how beautifully made they are.”

Dee Wickham from the Ladies who Knit left the following message with the gifts: “We hope you find our Twiddle Blankets useful and that they bring some comfort to those who need them.”
