Madeira lodge care home appreciated by college

Ashford College shows New Romney care home its gratitude for opening their doors to students and encouraging the next generation to think about health and social care as a future career.

Madeira Lodge care home were awarded with a certificate of appreciation for providing a real-time work placement to a Level 1 Diploma in Exploring the Caring Sectors student.  

Helping college students achieve their goal towards being a positive member of the care sectors future workforce, the student took part in the day-to-day role of the caring team, whilst gaining the opportunity to understand the needs of the elderly in residential care.

Anne Maurer, work placement coordinator at West Kent and Ashford College comments on the placement: “Having the opportunity to explore career paths in different healthcare environments is vital in helping students understand the options open to them. We are incredibly grateful to Madeira Lodge for allowing our student to become part of the team and spend time with residents. It’s been an incredibly positive experience and one we hope to repeat in the future with other students taking part in our health and social care focused courses.”

Working within social care is an extremely rewarding career, it’s enlightening to see younger people enthused about taking this career path.”
